Oooey Gooey Caramelly Delight!

YES! It’s been a while since the last blog post! Things have been a little busy – but we are here and we are all well and fine! And to prove it to you all, we are going to share something new for that sweet tooth of yours!

This next little bundle of joy comes all the way from the UK! Presenting to you all, The Grown Up Chocolate Company! The packaging and information on all their products clearly states, “Reminiscent of the bars we ate as children, but reimagined for grown-ups”. There’s a kiddo on the front of their products, dressed up as an adult, and then a little note stating, “Nice try kid, but it’s not for you!” and it’s the cutest, most fun packaging!

There are several different varieties to choose from within The Grown Up Chocolate Company brand – from bars to peanut butter cups and caramel truffle cups and more! Today let’s explore the Gorgeously Gooey Caramel Truffle Cups, shall we?

First – as I mentioned, the packaging is super fun! Who wouldn’t want to open this box of chocolate fun? Take note of the messages on the package: “Not For Little Monsters” and “Handmade With Love In the UK” – seriously – how fun is this?! When my 9-year-old asks me if he can have a try, I can just point to the box! Ha ha!

What’s really cool is that there are 6 caramel truffle cups in this package. They are placed in a tray and wrapped.

These Gorgeously Gooey Caramel Truffle Cups are not tiny in size, nor are they super gigantic. They are just a perfect size for popping – and sharing with other grown ups!

If you read the box above, it says, “Six Chocolate Cups Each Filled With Milk Chocolate Toffee and a Runny Caramel Truffle”. I will prove to you that these words are so true! I took a bite of one of these little treats and it was like a fun explosion of caramel running down my hand! I had to quickly adjust myself as I was trying to take photos to share with all of you! I was licking the sides of my hand and trying to avoid caramel contact to the lens and camera body! To show you the true runny caramel I had to place my cup on the box – you can see it oozing and making its escape out of the chocolate! DELICIOUS!

Hey Shorty, It’s Your Day!

Next to any day celebrating any form of chocolate (which should be everyday), I would have to say that today is one of my favorite new days to celebrate! Today is National Shortbread Day! Horray! I have loved shortbread since I was a young thing – that buttery taste of bliss – there’s not much that compares to shortbread!

And when I want shortbread I am going to be reaching for the closest tin or box of Shortbread House of Edinburgh that I can grab! And sadly, I have to say, it’s something that goes quickly in my house, if I have it! Between myself and my sons, shortbread doesn’t stand a chance of having a long shelf life in my cupboards! There is good reason why for that – it’s because we can’t get enough of this delectable edible!

When I was first introduced to Shortbread House of Edinburgh, I was able to try some from a box of the Sicilian Lemon flavored shortbread.

Then soon after came the tin… with an even bigger piece of shortbread than the box! I found a tin of shortbread biscuits made with Warming Stem Ginger, and YES! Soooo good! So good with a cup of tea! Or just on its own! There are pieces of ginger in the shortbread and it’s just a perfect ratio of deliciousness! You can even see the ginger pieces in the photos below! I must have been good this past year because Santa had a tin of these in my Christmas stocking!

I can’t even hide these from my kids anymore, my youngest is in love with the Original Recipe biscuits and he keeps asking for more “of those little cookies that taste really good”. Hey, what can I say? I try to make sure my kids get a taste of gourmet luxury when they let me! The Original Recipe is great for any beverage and kids also love the buttery flavor. These biscuits are handmade and you can tell, it’s easy to see and to taste the quality.

So there you have it, Shorty! It’s your day! National Shortbread Day! Enjoy it! Embrace it! And if you can get your hands on it, get yourself a box or tin of Shortbread House of Edinburgh! Now, I need to get my hands on the Cinnamon & Demerara and the Aromatic Lavender, and then I may just be floating up in the clouds in pure delight!

Springing Forward, But Falling Backward.

Has today’s title confused you? I truly don’t want to get you in a panic, but I am going to have to discuss some upcoming holidays for next year! I am talking about Valentine’s Day and Easter! I know, I know! We *just* made it through Halloween! Thanksgiving is not far away, heck it’s not even Christmas yet, although Christmas music is already blaring on a local radio station as of yesterday! The next major event happening around here would be Daylight Savings for those of us who observe it, which means we will have to fall back one hour this weekend.

Springing forward with holiday items, yet falling back an hour on the clocks!

Now that we have that out of the way… let me show you these spring products! Belfine is the maker of Fine Belgian Chocolate and they have these super cute chocolate pops and they all have super cute names! And while I am at it, I want to let any of our retailers know that the spring deadline is approaching! You know how to get a hold of us if you need any assistance with your order! You’ll find Belfine chocolate in the spring line up!

Let me first introduce you to Love Bear Arno, who is the perfect chocolate companion for your Valentine’s occasion! Per Belfine, “Each lollipop is individually wrapped in a transparent bag with clip and presented in a beautiful Belfine display.” Belfine’s chocolate figurines and lollipops are all hand crafted and it is really neat how they come to life.

This is the process for the chocolate characters:

  1. Start with a sketch
  2. Add some color
  3. Play with clay
  4. Prepare the mold
  5. Personalize the prototype
  6. Welcome to the family!
  7. Name and release

When the figurine is created, it is actually named and then copyrighted before venturing out into the world. How awesome is that?

Next up we have Jenny Duck and Lamb Betty for Easter. These Easter designs are sure to please everyone, young and old!

And as a mom, I can appreciate that there aren’t any ingredients in these chocolates that I don’t approve of! Belfine’s products are free from any artificial flavors, colors and fats. We are excited to have Shortbread House of Edinburgh as one of our newer product lines for our retailers! To give you an idea behind the title of today’s post, Shortbread House of Edinburgh prides itself in creating handmade shortbread products, they create “Shortbread Without Shortcuts”. There is no mass production of shortbread within their facilities. These shortbread are served in the best hotels, sold in some of the finest shops and are enjoyed from boardrooms to tea tables. You can watch some of the behind the scenes action in this short video produced by Shortbread House of Edinburgh that was posted on YouTube. Dough is made from scratch, biscuits are hand cut, and baked to perfection. They are beautifully made and baked and can I mention, the packaging is just gorgeous! I cannot wait to get my hands on a tin of these biscuits! The YouTube video appears to be a little dated, as the packaging has been recently redesigned, and it’s lovely! They have beautifully packaged holiday tins and packaging as well! Great gift ideas! Check out the slide show below for some of the holiday packaging! So adorable!

The man behind Shortbread House of Edinburgh is Anthony Laing, one of Lord Laing of Dunphail‘s three sons. Lord Laing was known for the being the chairman of United Biscuits, long considered a baking dynasty. Anthony, along with his wife Fiona, purchased a one-woman business based in historic Edinburgh, decided to make the business their own. Anthony and Fiona’s two boys, Christopher and Rupert, also take part in the family company and now have joined the family business full-time.

In 2014, the Duchess of Cornwall visited the company’s factory and made the news across Europe. Camilla sat upon Anthony’s knee for a company photo! You’ll have to read the article from The Telegraph to see how the story and photo came about, it has a little history with his son Rupert’s charity events for the military!
